The tanks & rooms here

The vessel type is the single biggest thing to get right — especially if enclosed spaces make you uneasy. Here's what True REST Float Spa runs, drawn from their own site and reviews.

🥚Float Pods

The classic enclosed capsule with a hinged lid. Deepest sensory deprivation; you lie down and pull the lid to.

Water & cleaning at True REST Float Spa

Sanitation is the thing seasoned floaters care about most, and most directories never show it. Between every float, the salt water should be pumped through fine filtration and disinfected — salt alone is not enough. From True REST Float Spa's own information: down to a 5-micron filter, UV sterilization, ozone, hydrogen peroxide.

The float-industry standard is turning the entire volume of water over at least three times between sessions through a 1–10 micron filter, paired with UV and/or hydrogen peroxide or ozone. If a center doesn't publish its process, it's fair to ask.

From the reviews

Since the reopening & ownership change there has been awesome changes & upgrades. Adding in the top of the line massage chairs has made the whole experience a game changer. I never want to leave. So relaxing after a float. Love the shower upgrades.

It was GREAT experience this second time around under the new ownership. The water was water, the floating itself was better because the salt levels were better. The amenities were better! After the first float I was going again, but my wife talked me into trying it again, and I'm glad she did!

My first float experience and post-float integration was phenomenal. Not only is the location itself well-appointed and spa-like, the owners are warm and knowledgeable. I felt like I received a weekend-long retreat’s-worth of relaxation and rejuvenation in the span of only two hours.

Loved everything about my float today!! The pods are spacious and the space is pristine! I was greater at the door by the owners and shown all of the wonderful extras!!! Now I know to come early so I can enjoy the massage chairs. In the private shower area, they have spa-level body washes, shampoos and conditioners.

Your first float at True REST Float Spa

Never floated before? Almost no one has their first time, and a good center expects it. Here's what to know. What it is: you float effortlessly in about ten inches of skin-temperature water saturated with around 1,000 lbs of Epsom salt — so dense you cannot sink. In the dark and quiet, with no light, sound, or gravity to react to, your nervous system downshifts. Before you come: don't shave or wax for a day beforehand (salt stings fresh cuts — they'll have barrier ointment if you nick yourself), skip caffeine, eat a light meal an hour or two before, and remove contacts. If you colored your hair recently, wait a few days. In the tank: shower first, put earplugs in before you get wet, and keep a fresh-water spray bottle within reach for salt in the eyes. You can leave the light or music on until you settle, then turn them off from inside. Hold your arms out for the first 20–30 seconds to stop bobbing, then let go. It takes a few tries — the first 20 minutes are usually your mind winding down. Arrive 10–15 minutes early to shower and get oriented.

Floating isn't for everyone: skip it with epilepsy, kidney disease, uncontrolled heart conditions, open wounds, a contagious condition, or in the first trimester of pregnancy without your doctor's OK. If in doubt, ask the center and check with a physician — this is general information, not medical advice.
