The tanks & rooms here

The vessel type is the single biggest thing to get right — especially if enclosed spaces make you uneasy. Here's what Sanctuary Float Center runs, drawn from their own site and reviews.

🌊Open float (no lid)

No lid to close over you — the answer for anyone who feels boxed in. Open pools, open rooms, or pods whose door stays open.

🥚Float Pods

The classic enclosed capsule with a hinged lid. Deepest sensory deprivation; you lie down and pull the lid to.

🛁Float Rooms

The room itself is the vessel: no hatch, walk straight in. Great for claustrophobia and easier access.

💧Open Float Pools

A room-sized open pool of salt water. Zero enclosure, easiest for two, most spacious of all.

From the reviews

Lynn was fantastic answered all my questions and was very knowledgeable about the equipment. I did the exploratory option that I was able to try the salt float, cold plunge, infrared, salt booth and red light therapy. Definitely will be coming back for the salt floats, red light therapy and sauna

I had a wonderful experience! It was my first time floating. I will be back for sure! They have so many other great therapies to offer. Lynn walked us through everything what we needed to do it was great. And when I say float I mean you will float there's no way you can't float, extremely relaxing.

Lynn was above and beyond helpful and knowledgeable, and he’s a very patient person answering all my questions. Today I surprised my husband who just landed from his Boston trip for celebrating our Valentine’s Day to float at Sanctuary float center. It was our first experience and it was awesome.

I had an amazing experience at the floating center! From the moment I walked in, the atmosphere was peaceful, welcoming, and relaxing. The staff was incredibly friendly and made sure I felt comfortable and knew exactly what to expect. The float session itself was incredible.

Your first float at Sanctuary Float Center

Never floated before? Almost no one has their first time, and a good center expects it. Here's what to know. What it is: you float effortlessly in about ten inches of skin-temperature water saturated with around 1,000 lbs of Epsom salt — so dense you cannot sink. In the dark and quiet, with no light, sound, or gravity to react to, your nervous system downshifts. Before you come: don't shave or wax for a day beforehand (salt stings fresh cuts — they'll have barrier ointment if you nick yourself), skip caffeine, eat a light meal an hour or two before, and remove contacts. If you colored your hair recently, wait a few days. In the tank: shower first, put earplugs in before you get wet, and keep a fresh-water spray bottle within reach for salt in the eyes. You can leave the light or music on until you settle, then turn them off from inside. Hold your arms out for the first 20–30 seconds to stop bobbing, then let go. It takes a few tries — the first 20 minutes are usually your mind winding down. Arrive 10–15 minutes early to shower and get oriented.

Floating isn't for everyone: skip it with epilepsy, kidney disease, uncontrolled heart conditions, open wounds, a contagious condition, or in the first trimester of pregnancy without your doctor's OK. If in doubt, ask the center and check with a physician — this is general information, not medical advice.
