The tanks & rooms here

The vessel type is the single biggest thing to get right — especially if enclosed spaces make you uneasy. Here's what Rubicon Float • Massage • Wellness runs, drawn from their own site and reviews.

🥚Float Pods

The classic enclosed capsule with a hinged lid. Deepest sensory deprivation; you lie down and pull the lid to.

From the reviews

Coming here for the first time, I really wasn't sure what to expect. Staff was very friendly, told us of his doubts and how skeptical he was of this floating. His son owns the business and they are thriving! As I am in the military, I am under constant stress.

This was my first time floating and it was incredible! I have some conditions that make it really difficult to fully relax, but this did the trick; it just took me a little while to get used to it. I’m so glad I had 90 minutes so there was still plenty of time left once I settled in.

★★★★★ — Molly, Oct 2025

So glad I finally did it. It was truly a great experience to just float the stresses of life away for a little while. You'll be amazed at how fast the time goes and immediately understand why 90 mins is recommended. Very welcoming, calming, peaceful space, and super clean facility; I can't wait to go again.

★★★★★ — Kim, Apr 2025

Rubicon is a great place to float, clean facilities, caring staff, very chill. Speaking of chill I recently had the pleasure of experiencing the Cafe Chill float and it was awesome! Soothing music put together by Seth at c89.5 really helped to get into a meditative zone on a day where my mind was racing.

Your first float at Rubicon Float • Massage • Wellness

Never floated before? Almost no one has their first time, and a good center expects it. Here's what to know. What it is: you float effortlessly in about ten inches of skin-temperature water saturated with around 1,000 lbs of Epsom salt — so dense you cannot sink. In the dark and quiet, with no light, sound, or gravity to react to, your nervous system downshifts. Before you come: don't shave or wax for a day beforehand (salt stings fresh cuts — they'll have barrier ointment if you nick yourself), skip caffeine, eat a light meal an hour or two before, and remove contacts. If you colored your hair recently, wait a few days. In the tank: shower first, put earplugs in before you get wet, and keep a fresh-water spray bottle within reach for salt in the eyes. You can leave the light or music on until you settle, then turn them off from inside. Hold your arms out for the first 20–30 seconds to stop bobbing, then let go. It takes a few tries — the first 20 minutes are usually your mind winding down. Arrive 10–15 minutes early to shower and get oriented.

Floating isn't for everyone: skip it with epilepsy, kidney disease, uncontrolled heart conditions, open wounds, a contagious condition, or in the first trimester of pregnancy without your doctor's OK. If in doubt, ask the center and check with a physician — this is general information, not medical advice.
