The tanks & rooms here

The vessel type is the single biggest thing to get right — especially if enclosed spaces make you uneasy. Here's what Float Seattle (Greenwood) runs, drawn from their own site and reviews.

🥚Float Pods

The classic enclosed capsule with a hinged lid. Deepest sensory deprivation; you lie down and pull the lid to.

🚪Float Cabins

A walk-in enclosure with full standing height — for taller floaters and anyone who wants privacy without a low lid.

Water & cleaning at Float Seattle (Greenwood)

Sanitation is the thing seasoned floaters care about most, and most directories never show it. Between every float, the salt water should be pumped through fine filtration and disinfected — salt alone is not enough. From Float Seattle (Greenwood)'s own information: UV sterilization, ozone, hydrogen peroxide.

The float-industry standard is turning the entire volume of water over at least three times between sessions through a 1–10 micron filter, paired with UV and/or hydrogen peroxide or ozone. If a center doesn't publish its process, it's fair to ask.

From the reviews

I've gone to float Seattle quite a few times. I've been a member for quite a few years now. I've not been able to float consistently over the last few years and it's been a while since I've been floating. My experiences have always been wonderful low-key calming and delightful.

This place is better known for their float therapy (which I’ve tried a couple times and enjoyed), but my favorite is the hot + cold therapy. You get your own private room with a cold plunge and sauna, and it’s always clean and well maintained.

My first time floating was wonderful! Super helpful staff. The temperature was comfortable and it was such a unique experience. Love having the ability to wind down, relax and do some good for my nervous system to combat all the stress going on in the world at the moment. Highly recommend! I can’t wait for my next one!

I had a really good first-time experience with Float Seattle Greenwood on a Monday morning. The staff is so nice and the facility is extremely clean as well. When I get into the tub and close my eye, I feel the outside world become quite and I also feel free and supported (both physically and metally).

Your first float at Float Seattle (Greenwood)

Never floated before? Almost no one has their first time, and a good center expects it. Here's what to know. What it is: you float effortlessly in about ten inches of skin-temperature water saturated with around 1,000 lbs of Epsom salt — so dense you cannot sink. In the dark and quiet, with no light, sound, or gravity to react to, your nervous system downshifts. Before you come: don't shave or wax for a day beforehand (salt stings fresh cuts — they'll have barrier ointment if you nick yourself), skip caffeine, eat a light meal an hour or two before, and remove contacts. If you colored your hair recently, wait a few days. In the tank: shower first, put earplugs in before you get wet, and keep a fresh-water spray bottle within reach for salt in the eyes. You can leave the light or music on until you settle, then turn them off from inside. Hold your arms out for the first 20–30 seconds to stop bobbing, then let go. It takes a few tries — the first 20 minutes are usually your mind winding down. Arrive 10–15 minutes early to shower and get oriented.

Floating isn't for everyone: skip it with epilepsy, kidney disease, uncontrolled heart conditions, open wounds, a contagious condition, or in the first trimester of pregnancy without your doctor's OK. If in doubt, ask the center and check with a physician — this is general information, not medical advice.
