The vessel type is the single biggest thing to get right — especially if enclosed spaces make you uneasy. Here's what True REST Float Spa - Wexford runs, drawn from their own site and reviews.

The classic enclosed capsule with a hinged lid. Deepest sensory deprivation; you lie down and pull the lid to.

Water & cleaning at True REST Float Spa - Wexford

Sanitation is the thing seasoned floaters care about most, and most directories never show it. Between every float, the salt water should be pumped through fine filtration and disinfected — salt alone is not enough. From True REST Float Spa - Wexford's own information: down to a 5-micron filter, UV sterilization, ozone, hydrogen peroxide.

The float-industry standard is turning the entire volume of water over at least three times between sessions through a 1–10 micron filter, paired with UV and/or hydrogen peroxide or ozone. If a center doesn't publish its process, it's fair to ask.

From the reviews

This isn't for me. There was no sensory deprivation in my experience. Kind of like a warm bath. It's a lovely spa and the attendant was very friendly. Unfortunately despite being totally still, I continually bumped into the side or end of the tank or my head would get wedged up near the top of the tank which made me…

I visited with my sister, and this was our first time visiting a float spa. The staff was extremely friendly, answered all questions, and made sure we we're comfortable before the float. The float was interesting and relaxing, although I will admit that an hour was a tad too long for me.

We had a great visit. Andria was very sweet and helpful explaining how the float pods worked. Free tea and water as you visit, also there is a complimentary oxygen bar for use after your float. Two stations were equipped with combs, gel, lotion, deoderant, etc for use after your float.

★★★★☆ — Andrea, Oct 2021

It was something I never really have experienced. Low stress atmosphere from checking in and getting to know the prices for the first time. Actually floating was strange and very relaxing. I would recommend using the neck device if you have neck pains. Otherwise it was great.

Your first float at True REST Float Spa - Wexford

Never floated before? Almost no one has their first time, and a good center expects it. Here's what to know. What it is: you float effortlessly in about ten inches of skin-temperature water saturated with around 1,000 lbs of Epsom salt — so dense you cannot sink. In the dark and quiet, with no light, sound, or gravity to react to, your nervous system downshifts. Before you come: don't shave or wax for a day beforehand (salt stings fresh cuts — they'll have barrier ointment if you nick yourself), skip caffeine, eat a light meal an hour or two before, and remove contacts. If you colored your hair recently, wait a few days. In the tank: shower first, put earplugs in before you get wet, and keep a fresh-water spray bottle within reach for salt in the eyes. You can leave the light or music on until you settle, then turn them off from inside. Hold your arms out for the first 20–30 seconds to stop bobbing, then let go. It takes a few tries — the first 20 minutes are usually your mind winding down. Arrive 10–15 minutes early to shower and get oriented.

Floating isn't for everyone: skip it with epilepsy, kidney disease, uncontrolled heart conditions, open wounds, a contagious condition, or in the first trimester of pregnancy without your doctor's OK. If in doubt, ask the center and check with a physician — this is general information, not medical advice.
