The tanks & rooms here
No lid to close over you — the answer for anyone who feels boxed in. Open pools, open rooms, or pods whose door stays open.
The classic enclosed capsule with a hinged lid. Deepest sensory deprivation; you lie down and pull the lid to.

From the reviews
Wonderful spa like experience. Super clean, modern, relaxing, posh. The float was a rejuvenating experience and a lot of fun too! Highly recommended!
You won’t find a better floatation spa in Chicago (I’ve done them all) because these are the floating experts! They have meticulously thought of every detail to ensure and enhance the most optimal floating experience. The environment induces a relaxed state from the moment you walk in. The good vibes are palpable.
Had a great and relaxing experience for my first time floating and look forward to going back in the future! The space was beautiful, clean, luxurious and had a number of different areas for services, as well as a few rooms with pods.
I found this place after a good friend suggested that I start floating as a “shortcut” to a deep meditation. I have a regular meditation practice, so I was curious and decided to try it. The staff is incredible. They are patient, knowledgeable and helpful without being clingy.
Your first float at SpaceTime Floatation Center
Never floated before? Almost no one has their first time, and a good center expects it. Here's what to know. What it is: you float effortlessly in about ten inches of skin-temperature water saturated with around 1,000 lbs of Epsom salt — so dense you cannot sink. In the dark and quiet, with no light, sound, or gravity to react to, your nervous system downshifts. Before you come: don't shave or wax for a day beforehand (salt stings fresh cuts — they'll have barrier ointment if you nick yourself), skip caffeine, eat a light meal an hour or two before, and remove contacts. If you colored your hair recently, wait a few days. In the tank: shower first, put earplugs in before you get wet, and keep a fresh-water spray bottle within reach for salt in the eyes. You can leave the light or music on until you settle, then turn them off from inside. Hold your arms out for the first 20–30 seconds to stop bobbing, then let go. It takes a few tries — the first 20 minutes are usually your mind winding down. Arrive 10–15 minutes early to shower and get oriented.
