The tanks & rooms here

The vessel type is the single biggest thing to get right — especially if enclosed spaces make you uneasy. Here's what T-Float runs, drawn from their own site and reviews.

🥚Float Pods

The classic enclosed capsule with a hinged lid. Deepest sensory deprivation; you lie down and pull the lid to.

🛁Float Rooms

The room itself is the vessel: no hatch, walk straight in. Great for claustrophobia and easier access.

From the reviews

What an INCREDIBLE experience! My husband and I did a date day Valentine’s Day package that included a float session followed by breathwork (with an outside facilitator that came in for the weekend @Breath of Serenity). We had the option to float in the same tank or in individual tanks.

I’ve done this a while back at other place, it was OK. Decided to give it another try at T-Float and it did not disappoint! It was easier to relax the second time. I already knew what to expect and I could just FLOAT. Felt great for the rest of the day. Definitely coming back for more.

This experience was amazing. I enjoyed the solitude and peacefulness of the float. I will definitely come back for another float, though I would like to try the other unit.

This is the place to go if you have sore muscles. A soak in a super high concentration of Epsom salts does a body good. I prefer the Orion room, make sure you drink a bottle of water before and another bottle after, to stay hydrated. The Epsom salt will take the lactic acid out of your muscles, right through the skin.

Your first float at T-Float

Never floated before? Almost no one has their first time, and a good center expects it. Here's what to know. What it is: you float effortlessly in about ten inches of skin-temperature water saturated with around 1,000 lbs of Epsom salt — so dense you cannot sink. In the dark and quiet, with no light, sound, or gravity to react to, your nervous system downshifts. Before you come: don't shave or wax for a day beforehand (salt stings fresh cuts — they'll have barrier ointment if you nick yourself), skip caffeine, eat a light meal an hour or two before, and remove contacts. If you colored your hair recently, wait a few days. In the tank: shower first, put earplugs in before you get wet, and keep a fresh-water spray bottle within reach for salt in the eyes. You can leave the light or music on until you settle, then turn them off from inside. Hold your arms out for the first 20–30 seconds to stop bobbing, then let go. It takes a few tries — the first 20 minutes are usually your mind winding down. Arrive 10–15 minutes early to shower and get oriented.

Floating isn't for everyone: skip it with epilepsy, kidney disease, uncontrolled heart conditions, open wounds, a contagious condition, or in the first trimester of pregnancy without your doctor's OK. If in doubt, ask the center and check with a physician — this is general information, not medical advice.
