The tanks & rooms here

The vessel type is the single biggest thing to get right — especially if enclosed spaces make you uneasy. Here's what Capitol Floats Sacramento runs, drawn from their own site and reviews.

🛁Float Rooms

The room itself is the vessel: no hatch, walk straight in. Great for claustrophobia and easier access.

From the reviews

Excellent! Nice staff; facility is very clean and lovely; extra amenities to enhance the experience (nice robe, tea, snacks available); personal spa room with shower is ample and lovely, nice area to chill afterward, so no rushing you out (really like that); and, most importantly, the BEST FLOAT TUB with perfect water…

the magnesium salt soak is wonderful in my situation. I have arthritis and I’ve had thoracic surgery and I was wondering if this might help and sure enough it was amazing.

Fabulous staff and services! I really appreciate that I have float options close to home (many of my friends around the country don't) because my body actually need it now and the memberships pricing is so reasonable! Absolutely do the Fire + Ice room btw and hang out in the Zen room! Your muscles will thank you :D

Capitol Floats offers excellent relaxation services like sauna/cold plunge and features floating as a way to embrace embodiment. The float in the salt tank has detoxification for the body to rid of excess stress and support the body’s digestive systems because it is a high level of concentrated magnesium salt.

Your first float at Capitol Floats Sacramento

Never floated before? Almost no one has their first time, and a good center expects it. Here's what to know. What it is: you float effortlessly in about ten inches of skin-temperature water saturated with around 1,000 lbs of Epsom salt — so dense you cannot sink. In the dark and quiet, with no light, sound, or gravity to react to, your nervous system downshifts. Before you come: don't shave or wax for a day beforehand (salt stings fresh cuts — they'll have barrier ointment if you nick yourself), skip caffeine, eat a light meal an hour or two before, and remove contacts. If you colored your hair recently, wait a few days. In the tank: shower first, put earplugs in before you get wet, and keep a fresh-water spray bottle within reach for salt in the eyes. You can leave the light or music on until you settle, then turn them off from inside. Hold your arms out for the first 20–30 seconds to stop bobbing, then let go. It takes a few tries — the first 20 minutes are usually your mind winding down. Arrive 10–15 minutes early to shower and get oriented.

Floating isn't for everyone: skip it with epilepsy, kidney disease, uncontrolled heart conditions, open wounds, a contagious condition, or in the first trimester of pregnancy without your doctor's OK. If in doubt, ask the center and check with a physician — this is general information, not medical advice.
