The tanks & rooms here

The vessel type is the single biggest thing to get right — especially if enclosed spaces make you uneasy. Here's what 180 Float Spa runs, drawn from their own site and reviews.

🥚Float Pods

The classic enclosed capsule with a hinged lid. Deepest sensory deprivation; you lie down and pull the lid to.

🚪Float Cabins

A walk-in enclosure with full standing height — for taller floaters and anyone who wants privacy without a low lid.

🛁Float Rooms

The room itself is the vessel: no hatch, walk straight in. Great for claustrophobia and easier access.

Water & cleaning at 180 Float Spa

Sanitation is the thing seasoned floaters care about most, and most directories never show it. Between every float, the salt water should be pumped through fine filtration and disinfected — salt alone is not enough. From 180 Float Spa's own information: down to a 10-micron filter, UV sterilization, ozone.

The float-industry standard is turning the entire volume of water over at least three times between sessions through a 1–10 micron filter, paired with UV and/or hydrogen peroxide or ozone. If a center doesn't publish its process, it's fair to ask.

From the reviews

We came for a weekend getaway. It was my first float and I was nervous. Angela was so sweet and very thorough in explaining how it worked and what the benefits are. I cannot swim and have a very hard time just laying back in water. I chose to leave the lid open and I put the float behind my head.

★★★★★ — Angela, Mar 2024

Brad and Angela are great! I took my 83 year old mom with me and they were great at explaining the services and helping my mom with the float pod. They were open to suggestions concerning elderly folks using their services. They are super professional and communicate expectations very well.

I have floated many times and in many different cities and 180 Float Spa is by far my favorite. The personal and ind attention you get really makes a difference. The deluxe room with the larger tank is especially nice for a 5’10” person like me. The spa is always clean.

Very welcoming and relaxing environment, a comfortable transition from arriving to getting into the float area. Wasn't sure what to expect from my first float but left feeling like I had a thoughtful reflection period.

Your first float at 180 Float Spa

Never floated before? Almost no one has their first time, and a good center expects it. Here's what to know. What it is: you float effortlessly in about ten inches of skin-temperature water saturated with around 1,000 lbs of Epsom salt — so dense you cannot sink. In the dark and quiet, with no light, sound, or gravity to react to, your nervous system downshifts. Before you come: don't shave or wax for a day beforehand (salt stings fresh cuts — they'll have barrier ointment if you nick yourself), skip caffeine, eat a light meal an hour or two before, and remove contacts. If you colored your hair recently, wait a few days. In the tank: shower first, put earplugs in before you get wet, and keep a fresh-water spray bottle within reach for salt in the eyes. You can leave the light or music on until you settle, then turn them off from inside. Hold your arms out for the first 20–30 seconds to stop bobbing, then let go. It takes a few tries — the first 20 minutes are usually your mind winding down. Arrive 10–15 minutes early to shower and get oriented.

Floating isn't for everyone: skip it with epilepsy, kidney disease, uncontrolled heart conditions, open wounds, a contagious condition, or in the first trimester of pregnancy without your doctor's OK. If in doubt, ask the center and check with a physician — this is general information, not medical advice.
