Water & cleaning at Unwind at Westclox
Sanitation is the thing seasoned floaters care about most, and most directories never show it. Between every float, the salt water should be pumped through fine filtration and disinfected — salt alone is not enough. From Unwind at Westclox's own information: filters the full tank 3× between floats, down to a 5-micron filter, UV sterilization, ozone.

From the reviews
Very nice spa, clean, new and relaxing atmosphere. The float tanks are an amazing experience, not to mention the best massage I got from Gretchen. She was really good!!
Unwind was amazing! I've been to spa's before and gotten massages and Unwind is the BEST of all of them. Massage was by Gretchen and she did amazing. After that I spent some time in the sauna which was so relaxing. Last, I did the float tank. I've never been in a float tank before and It was one of the coolest things.
My boyfriend and I went to Starved Rock last July and we found a really great spa near by called Unwind at Westclox. The owner Abby was super nice and accommodating. They were to be closed when we wanted to come in and being a weekend trip we didn't have many choices on time.
Highly recommend Tommy Thorson!! Absolutely amazing, very kind and professional. He knows exactly the right pressure and angles to get to right where it is needed. He takes his time and makes sure you are comfortable at all times. He is definitely in the profession he is meant to be in.
Your first float at Unwind at Westclox
Never floated before? Almost no one has their first time, and a good center expects it. Here's what to know. What it is: you float effortlessly in about ten inches of skin-temperature water saturated with around 1,000 lbs of Epsom salt — so dense you cannot sink. In the dark and quiet, with no light, sound, or gravity to react to, your nervous system downshifts. Before you come: don't shave or wax for a day beforehand (salt stings fresh cuts — they'll have barrier ointment if you nick yourself), skip caffeine, eat a light meal an hour or two before, and remove contacts. If you colored your hair recently, wait a few days. In the tank: shower first, put earplugs in before you get wet, and keep a fresh-water spray bottle within reach for salt in the eyes. You can leave the light or music on until you settle, then turn them off from inside. Hold your arms out for the first 20–30 seconds to stop bobbing, then let go. It takes a few tries — the first 20 minutes are usually your mind winding down. Arrive 10–15 minutes early to shower and get oriented.
