The tanks & rooms here
A walk-in enclosure with full standing height — for taller floaters and anyone who wants privacy without a low lid.
The room itself is the vessel: no hatch, walk straight in. Great for claustrophobia and easier access.
Water & cleaning at The Chicago Stress Relief Center, Inc.
Sanitation is the thing seasoned floaters care about most, and most directories never show it. Between every float, the salt water should be pumped through fine filtration and disinfected — salt alone is not enough. From The Chicago Stress Relief Center, Inc.'s own information: filters the full tank 3× between floats, UV sterilization.

An amazing place to float! They have 2 large Ocean Float Rooms now, which provide an awesome float environment. I've floated in over 25 float centers in the past 6 years and in many styles of float tanks, and the Ocean Room is still my favorite tank to float in, and the Chicago Stress Relief Center still once of my…
I just LOOOVE floating. It is the ultimate self care practice. If you can’t seem to meditate this is the perfect introduction to the feeling of bliss of meditation. I go in and out of consciousness but mainly I’m always present and aware with thoughts floating in and out.
Chicago Stress Relief Center – My Floatation Experience I floated at Chicago Stress Relief Center on 2/5/26 for 90 minutes, and the best way I can describe it is this: It felt like a week’s vacation condensed into 90 minutes.
A must visit! I love my time here! I got a membership after my first visit and never looked back. I so look forward to my monthly massage and float and always add on a sauna! It’s truly time and money well spent. Eva is the most kind and patient person ever and takes such good care of her clients!
Your first float at The Chicago Stress Relief Center, Inc.
Never floated before? Almost no one has their first time, and a good center expects it. Here's what to know. What it is: you float effortlessly in about ten inches of skin-temperature water saturated with around 1,000 lbs of Epsom salt — so dense you cannot sink. In the dark and quiet, with no light, sound, or gravity to react to, your nervous system downshifts. Before you come: don't shave or wax for a day beforehand (salt stings fresh cuts — they'll have barrier ointment if you nick yourself), skip caffeine, eat a light meal an hour or two before, and remove contacts. If you colored your hair recently, wait a few days. In the tank: shower first, put earplugs in before you get wet, and keep a fresh-water spray bottle within reach for salt in the eyes. You can leave the light or music on until you settle, then turn them off from inside. Hold your arms out for the first 20–30 seconds to stop bobbing, then let go. It takes a few tries — the first 20 minutes are usually your mind winding down. Arrive 10–15 minutes early to shower and get oriented.
