The tanks & rooms here

The vessel type is the single biggest thing to get right — especially if enclosed spaces make you uneasy. Here's what Stasis Float Center runs, drawn from their own site and reviews.

🌊Open float (no lid)

No lid to close over you — the answer for anyone who feels boxed in. Open pools, open rooms, or pods whose door stays open.

Water & cleaning at Stasis Float Center

Sanitation is the thing seasoned floaters care about most, and most directories never show it. Between every float, the salt water should be pumped through fine filtration and disinfected — salt alone is not enough. From Stasis Float Center's own information: UV sterilization, hydrogen peroxide.

The float-industry standard is turning the entire volume of water over at least three times between sessions through a 1–10 micron filter, paired with UV and/or hydrogen peroxide or ozone. If a center doesn't publish its process, it's fair to ask.

From the reviews

I found this float center when I moved to Syracuse several years back and recently got reacquainted with somewhat regular visits. I must say I can’t speak highly enough of the place. Glenn and the entire staff there are so warm and welcoming. It’s truly a wonderful place. The tanks are great.

First time float was a success! My float session was the perfect way to reset on spring break! I felt weightless. The silence and overall experience made me feel relaxed and light as a feather. From the moment we arrived, everything felt calm, intentional, and welcoming.

I love 90 miles away so this was my first time to the float center. It was an incredibly relaxing experience. I thought for sure I’d be bored well before 90 minutes, nope - didn’t want to get out. The center is super clean and stocked with all necessities. The women at the desk was kind and made me feel comfortable.

Very clean and the staff was friendly, professional, and helpful. This was the first time my wife and I used the couples float room together. It was nice. I couple things I might offer for them to consider is a few times we heard people talking in the hall outside our room, with earplugs in and under the water.

Your first float at Stasis Float Center

Never floated before? Almost no one has their first time, and a good center expects it. Here's what to know. What it is: you float effortlessly in about ten inches of skin-temperature water saturated with around 1,000 lbs of Epsom salt — so dense you cannot sink. In the dark and quiet, with no light, sound, or gravity to react to, your nervous system downshifts. Before you come: don't shave or wax for a day beforehand (salt stings fresh cuts — they'll have barrier ointment if you nick yourself), skip caffeine, eat a light meal an hour or two before, and remove contacts. If you colored your hair recently, wait a few days. In the tank: shower first, put earplugs in before you get wet, and keep a fresh-water spray bottle within reach for salt in the eyes. You can leave the light or music on until you settle, then turn them off from inside. Hold your arms out for the first 20–30 seconds to stop bobbing, then let go. It takes a few tries — the first 20 minutes are usually your mind winding down. Arrive 10–15 minutes early to shower and get oriented.

Floating isn't for everyone: skip it with epilepsy, kidney disease, uncontrolled heart conditions, open wounds, a contagious condition, or in the first trimester of pregnancy without your doctor's OK. If in doubt, ask the center and check with a physician — this is general information, not medical advice.
