The tanks & rooms here

The vessel type is the single biggest thing to get right — especially if enclosed spaces make you uneasy. Here's what Sal-Sano runs, drawn from their own site and reviews.

🥚Float Pods

The classic enclosed capsule with a hinged lid. Deepest sensory deprivation; you lie down and pull the lid to.

From the reviews

I found the salt soak to be a deeply meditative experience. I felt completely safe within the pod after I realized I would not sink--I could zone out, be awakened by an involuntary arm movement, for example, and realize my body remained perfectly buoyed by the warm salt water. The temperature was just right.

I went in for soak in the salt pod. It was amazing! I was able to feel weightless and relax for an hour and that is priceless. The facility was very clean and atmosphere is very welcoming. Evan was awesome and explained how it all works and all the benefits that continue to affect you days after.

Evan and Jessica are amazing! Both have helped me a great deal with several issues. I love the holistic approach they use and their depth of knowledge is truly incredible. Their new space is beautiful and inviting and the staff goes out of their way to help. I’ve been a client for 10 years and won’t go anywhere else!

This place is absolutely amazing! I have been seeing Evan for bodywork and Jess for hormone therapy. Evan and Jess are both extremely knowledgeable and so passionate about what they do. Evan knows exactly what you need and always makes everything so much better!

Your first float at Sal-Sano

Never floated before? Almost no one has their first time, and a good center expects it. Here's what to know. What it is: you float effortlessly in about ten inches of skin-temperature water saturated with around 1,000 lbs of Epsom salt — so dense you cannot sink. In the dark and quiet, with no light, sound, or gravity to react to, your nervous system downshifts. Before you come: don't shave or wax for a day beforehand (salt stings fresh cuts — they'll have barrier ointment if you nick yourself), skip caffeine, eat a light meal an hour or two before, and remove contacts. If you colored your hair recently, wait a few days. In the tank: shower first, put earplugs in before you get wet, and keep a fresh-water spray bottle within reach for salt in the eyes. You can leave the light or music on until you settle, then turn them off from inside. Hold your arms out for the first 20–30 seconds to stop bobbing, then let go. It takes a few tries — the first 20 minutes are usually your mind winding down. Arrive 10–15 minutes early to shower and get oriented.

Floating isn't for everyone: skip it with epilepsy, kidney disease, uncontrolled heart conditions, open wounds, a contagious condition, or in the first trimester of pregnancy without your doctor's OK. If in doubt, ask the center and check with a physician — this is general information, not medical advice.
