The classic enclosed capsule with a hinged lid. Deepest sensory deprivation; you lie down and pull the lid to.
Water & cleaning at Northern Waters Float Center
Sanitation is the thing seasoned floaters care about most, and most directories never show it. Between every float, the salt water should be pumped through fine filtration and disinfected — salt alone is not enough. From Northern Waters Float Center's own information: filters the full tank 3× between floats, UV sterilization.

From the reviews
I wasn’t sure if I would like this, but floating has become my new love. This place is perfect. The facilities are pristinely clean. The atmosphere is peaceful and welcoming. Every detail is well thought out. Liz thoroughly explains everything pre float. Floating is relaxing for both my mind and body.
As a person who rarely sits still or turns my brain off, this was an awesome experience. I highly encourage you to try it. If you aren't 100% sure, just do 30 minutes. It's amazing to feel the weightless environment. It's very clean and super nice. Liz does a great job explaining things in detail.
This is my new favorite thing. I'm a lifelong skeptic and usually feel most experiences don't live up to the hype, but this is truly an exception; in the most amazing way possible. Liz does a fantastic job of explaining everything when you arrive and making you feel comfortable for your float.
This was my first experience with a float tank, and Liz made it wonderful from start to finish. She explained everything clearly, made me feel completely comfortable, and the entire session was incredible. It was relaxing, rejuvenating, and a unique form of self-care I hadn’t tried before.
Your first float at Northern Waters Float Center
Never floated before? Almost no one has their first time, and a good center expects it. Here's what to know. What it is: you float effortlessly in about ten inches of skin-temperature water saturated with around 1,000 lbs of Epsom salt — so dense you cannot sink. In the dark and quiet, with no light, sound, or gravity to react to, your nervous system downshifts. Before you come: don't shave or wax for a day beforehand (salt stings fresh cuts — they'll have barrier ointment if you nick yourself), skip caffeine, eat a light meal an hour or two before, and remove contacts. If you colored your hair recently, wait a few days. In the tank: shower first, put earplugs in before you get wet, and keep a fresh-water spray bottle within reach for salt in the eyes. You can leave the light or music on until you settle, then turn them off from inside. Hold your arms out for the first 20–30 seconds to stop bobbing, then let go. It takes a few tries — the first 20 minutes are usually your mind winding down. Arrive 10–15 minutes early to shower and get oriented.
