I went to Lumen for the first time today to redeem a gift certificate I received for Christmas for a salt water tank float and a massage. I wasn’t sure what to expect. The float was so relaxing! I felt like I was in an alternate world where my body does not weigh anything and there is no outside stimulation at all.
Been going here for a bit over a year. Really enjoy Lumen. Staff is knowledgeable, and always so nice and accommodating. For float it's the best place I've ever floated. They keep the water temp /air temp well tuned and noise non-existent to minimal, pods are large, so you aren't always hitting the sides.
I was gifted two Floats for Christmas and decided to bring my husband with me. We did the Infrared Sauna for two first and then the Floats. Everyone was super friendly and helpfully as this was our first time there. The facilities were well kept and relaxing. We were very impressed with the whole vibe of the place.
If you want to spend a few hours and really optimize your health and spirit this is the place. I booked in for the infrared session, a float in the tank and finished up with a deep tissue massage with Francine. I haven’t felt that relaxed in years.
Your first float at LUMEN Optimal Wellness
Never floated before? Almost no one has their first time, and a good center expects it. Here's what to know. What it is: you float effortlessly in about ten inches of skin-temperature water saturated with around 1,000 lbs of Epsom salt — so dense you cannot sink. In the dark and quiet, with no light, sound, or gravity to react to, your nervous system downshifts. Before you come: don't shave or wax for a day beforehand (salt stings fresh cuts — they'll have barrier ointment if you nick yourself), skip caffeine, eat a light meal an hour or two before, and remove contacts. If you colored your hair recently, wait a few days. In the tank: shower first, put earplugs in before you get wet, and keep a fresh-water spray bottle within reach for salt in the eyes. You can leave the light or music on until you settle, then turn them off from inside. Hold your arms out for the first 20–30 seconds to stop bobbing, then let go. It takes a few tries — the first 20 minutes are usually your mind winding down. Arrive 10–15 minutes early to shower and get oriented.
