The tanks & rooms here

The vessel type is the single biggest thing to get right — especially if enclosed spaces make you uneasy. Here's what Float and Calm Spa runs, drawn from their own site and reviews.

🥚Float Pods

The classic enclosed capsule with a hinged lid. Deepest sensory deprivation; you lie down and pull the lid to.

🛁Float Rooms

The room itself is the vessel: no hatch, walk straight in. Great for claustrophobia and easier access.

From the reviews

Good experience. The staff is a bit stiff and rigid. They could be happier and have a better disposition. The facility was good. The massage was good. The float chamber was good. The amenities were good. It would be 5 stars, but the staff didn’t seem to want to be there or happy they had customers —> cold disposition.

As a veteran, I appreciated the focused care at Float and Calm Spa. The medical massage was exactly what I needed post-surgery. The space is clean, quiet, and thoughtfully designed. Brittany, Marco, and the staff were professional and detailed.

I love this place!!!! I wanted to treat my bestfriend for her birthday and they did not disappoint!!! It was amazing. We did a massage and the lady that did mine knew exactly how to massage me. We did the float and we had a blast!!! They have a shower and everything for after the float as well.

Wife and I floated for the first time together. So relaxing we both fell asleep, which in any other circumstances could have been dangerous. Lol The facility was clean and everyone was welcoming and open to answering all the crazy questions I had. Will try and book some massages asap.

Your first float at Float and Calm Spa

Never floated before? Almost no one has their first time, and a good center expects it. Here's what to know. What it is: you float effortlessly in about ten inches of skin-temperature water saturated with around 1,000 lbs of Epsom salt — so dense you cannot sink. In the dark and quiet, with no light, sound, or gravity to react to, your nervous system downshifts. Before you come: don't shave or wax for a day beforehand (salt stings fresh cuts — they'll have barrier ointment if you nick yourself), skip caffeine, eat a light meal an hour or two before, and remove contacts. If you colored your hair recently, wait a few days. In the tank: shower first, put earplugs in before you get wet, and keep a fresh-water spray bottle within reach for salt in the eyes. You can leave the light or music on until you settle, then turn them off from inside. Hold your arms out for the first 20–30 seconds to stop bobbing, then let go. It takes a few tries — the first 20 minutes are usually your mind winding down. Arrive 10–15 minutes early to shower and get oriented.

Floating isn't for everyone: skip it with epilepsy, kidney disease, uncontrolled heart conditions, open wounds, a contagious condition, or in the first trimester of pregnancy without your doctor's OK. If in doubt, ask the center and check with a physician — this is general information, not medical advice.
