The tanks & rooms here

The vessel type is the single biggest thing to get right — especially if enclosed spaces make you uneasy. Here's what Ebb & Float runs, drawn from their own site and reviews.

🌊Open float (no lid)

No lid to close over you — the answer for anyone who feels boxed in. Open pools, open rooms, or pods whose door stays open.

🥚Float Pods

The classic enclosed capsule with a hinged lid. Deepest sensory deprivation; you lie down and pull the lid to.

From the reviews

Recently discovered this gem and have fallen in love. The floats are life changing (not exaggerating) and the atmosphere is so zen and calming. I also attended the Cacao Ceremony event and received SO much from it..so thankful. Kymberlee is love personified and the whole evening was magical. Will definitely be back.

Soooo nice to relax in a massage chair set in a beautiful environment! The mood and atmosphere is inviting as soon as you enter and throughout your visit. And the floating is a wonderful personal experience that gets better and better with each visit. The combination of relaxing and energizing is awesome!!

Patient and knowledgeable staff, clean facility, and more reasonably priced than True Rest. The experience in the epsom salt float tank was boring, but that's kinda what we're shooting for here, right? Got out feeling far more physically and mentally relaxed and slept like a rock that night.

I did a float and massage combo, and it was great! The staff are very open and kind. They show you around if it's your first time as well. I enjoyed the waiting room the most-it's a zen area with open space for you to create in and flow with your energy. The sessions themselves were amazing.

Your first float at Ebb & Float

Never floated before? Almost no one has their first time, and a good center expects it. Here's what to know. What it is: you float effortlessly in about ten inches of skin-temperature water saturated with around 1,000 lbs of Epsom salt — so dense you cannot sink. In the dark and quiet, with no light, sound, or gravity to react to, your nervous system downshifts. Before you come: don't shave or wax for a day beforehand (salt stings fresh cuts — they'll have barrier ointment if you nick yourself), skip caffeine, eat a light meal an hour or two before, and remove contacts. If you colored your hair recently, wait a few days. In the tank: shower first, put earplugs in before you get wet, and keep a fresh-water spray bottle within reach for salt in the eyes. You can leave the light or music on until you settle, then turn them off from inside. Hold your arms out for the first 20–30 seconds to stop bobbing, then let go. It takes a few tries — the first 20 minutes are usually your mind winding down. Arrive 10–15 minutes early to shower and get oriented.

Floating isn't for everyone: skip it with epilepsy, kidney disease, uncontrolled heart conditions, open wounds, a contagious condition, or in the first trimester of pregnancy without your doctor's OK. If in doubt, ask the center and check with a physician — this is general information, not medical advice.
