The tanks & rooms here

The vessel type is the single biggest thing to get right — especially if enclosed spaces make you uneasy. Here's what East Coast Float Spa West Chester runs, drawn from their own site and reviews.

🌊Open float (no lid)

No lid to close over you — the answer for anyone who feels boxed in. Open pools, open rooms, or pods whose door stays open.

🥚Float Pods

The classic enclosed capsule with a hinged lid. Deepest sensory deprivation; you lie down and pull the lid to.

🛁Float Rooms

The room itself is the vessel: no hatch, walk straight in. Great for claustrophobia and easier access.

Water & cleaning at East Coast Float Spa West Chester

Sanitation is the thing seasoned floaters care about most, and most directories never show it. Between every float, the salt water should be pumped through fine filtration and disinfected — salt alone is not enough. From East Coast Float Spa West Chester's own information: UV sterilization, ozone, hydrogen peroxide.

The float-industry standard is turning the entire volume of water over at least three times between sessions through a 1–10 micron filter, paired with UV and/or hydrogen peroxide or ozone. If a center doesn't publish its process, it's fair to ask.

From the reviews

I wanted to do something for my birthday to celebrate myself. I'd never heard of a "float spa" which I'd found on Groupon. So I said "let me try something different just for myself. If you have never experienced a salt float, you really should give it a shot. It is the most relaxing experience, even more so than a massage. East Coast Float doesn't use deprivation tanks so the risk of feeling claustraphobic is low. Their facilities are clean and bright and the staff is always friendly and helpful.

It was everything I imagined it would be. Easy to schedule, peaceful and serene atmosphere. Ashanti (hope that’s how she spell) was amazing, she went over all the details I needed and sent me on my way. The private room was nice and clean where my float was.

Love this place! Been to quite a few Float Spas in Northeastern US, and this one is class. The amenities are well kept and clean, and once I tried all of the services offered, I had to get a membership! I drive 45 minutes, but totally worth it.

Your first float at East Coast Float Spa West Chester

Never floated before? Almost no one has their first time, and a good center expects it. Here's what to know. What it is: you float effortlessly in about ten inches of skin-temperature water saturated with around 1,000 lbs of Epsom salt — so dense you cannot sink. In the dark and quiet, with no light, sound, or gravity to react to, your nervous system downshifts. Before you come: don't shave or wax for a day beforehand (salt stings fresh cuts — they'll have barrier ointment if you nick yourself), skip caffeine, eat a light meal an hour or two before, and remove contacts. If you colored your hair recently, wait a few days. In the tank: shower first, put earplugs in before you get wet, and keep a fresh-water spray bottle within reach for salt in the eyes. You can leave the light or music on until you settle, then turn them off from inside. Hold your arms out for the first 20–30 seconds to stop bobbing, then let go. It takes a few tries — the first 20 minutes are usually your mind winding down. Arrive 10–15 minutes early to shower and get oriented.

Floating isn't for everyone: skip it with epilepsy, kidney disease, uncontrolled heart conditions, open wounds, a contagious condition, or in the first trimester of pregnancy without your doctor's OK. If in doubt, ask the center and check with a physician — this is general information, not medical advice.
