The tanks & rooms here

The vessel type is the single biggest thing to get right — especially if enclosed spaces make you uneasy. Here's what Truth Mind & Body runs, drawn from their own site and reviews.

🚪Float Cabins

A walk-in enclosure with full standing height — for taller floaters and anyone who wants privacy without a low lid.

🛁Float Rooms

The room itself is the vessel: no hatch, walk straight in. Great for claustrophobia and easier access.

Water & cleaning at Truth Mind & Body

Sanitation is the thing seasoned floaters care about most, and most directories never show it. Between every float, the salt water should be pumped through fine filtration and disinfected — salt alone is not enough. From Truth Mind & Body's own information: filters the full tank 4× between floats, UV sterilization, hydrogen peroxide.

The float-industry standard is turning the entire volume of water over at least three times between sessions through a 1–10 micron filter, paired with UV and/or hydrogen peroxide or ozone. If a center doesn't publish its process, it's fair to ask.

From the reviews

I had a great time here yesterday. My friend treated us to a tandem float and we ended up talking through the whole thing but the float room was fantastic, the staff was very knowledgeable and courteous. We discussed things that helped the experience and to make the most put of it.

I go here for massages regularly and have also tried out a float session. My massage therapist is AMAZING and all the staff and owners are a delight. The waiting room is very relaxing with tea, magazines, etc. and they have lots of cool stuff you can buy in the lobby (clothes, jewelry, accessories, art).

While planning to visit a friend in Maryland, I found out he had never experienced a float and massage! Since he was hosting, I wanted to treat him to this amazing experience. I highly recommend giving this business your business! Friendly professional staff and they made it a breeze to book multiple appointments!

Had my first visit for a float yesterday. I met Stacey and Bob and they both made me feel really welcome. After a float, I took a quick tour and learned of the great many services they offer. This place really has it all under one roof. Very clean, all the equipment and rooms are very well maintained.

Your first float at Truth Mind & Body

Never floated before? Almost no one has their first time, and a good center expects it. Here's what to know. What it is: you float effortlessly in about ten inches of skin-temperature water saturated with around 1,000 lbs of Epsom salt — so dense you cannot sink. In the dark and quiet, with no light, sound, or gravity to react to, your nervous system downshifts. Before you come: don't shave or wax for a day beforehand (salt stings fresh cuts — they'll have barrier ointment if you nick yourself), skip caffeine, eat a light meal an hour or two before, and remove contacts. If you colored your hair recently, wait a few days. In the tank: shower first, put earplugs in before you get wet, and keep a fresh-water spray bottle within reach for salt in the eyes. You can leave the light or music on until you settle, then turn them off from inside. Hold your arms out for the first 20–30 seconds to stop bobbing, then let go. It takes a few tries — the first 20 minutes are usually your mind winding down. Arrive 10–15 minutes early to shower and get oriented.

Floating isn't for everyone: skip it with epilepsy, kidney disease, uncontrolled heart conditions, open wounds, a contagious condition, or in the first trimester of pregnancy without your doctor's OK. If in doubt, ask the center and check with a physician — this is general information, not medical advice.
