The tanks & rooms here

The vessel type is the single biggest thing to get right — especially if enclosed spaces make you uneasy. Here's what Therapods runs, drawn from their own site and reviews.

🚪Float Cabins

A walk-in enclosure with full standing height — for taller floaters and anyone who wants privacy without a low lid.

🛁Float Rooms

The room itself is the vessel: no hatch, walk straight in. Great for claustrophobia and easier access.

From the reviews

First off, facility is super squeaky clean! The customer service is top notch. The float tank is such a life changing event. So relaxing, equal to a full body massage… not kidding. You will levitate and glide out on a cloud filled with cotton candy. Sally is the best in the business. We have been coming for years now.

What an awesome place to go to. I went with a friend and we each got an hour float pod session, which we both loved. It was incredibly relaxing, and employees who work there are extremely kind and helpful. We also got a sample of the light therapy which is both very interesting and fun.

First I want to say how much I have enjoyed my experiences here. First thing I did was a 1 hour float. The environment is relaxing and peaceful. Staff was super friendly and just great to chat with. I did my float and left feeling amazing. Second thing I did was light therapy.

This is one of those places you need to go in and talk to the owner. Sally is very welcoming and patiently explained everything. We even got a tour in which she showed the tub, floating area, massage room and the light. The place is clean and even has a hairsalon.

Your first float at Therapods

Never floated before? Almost no one has their first time, and a good center expects it. Here's what to know. What it is: you float effortlessly in about ten inches of skin-temperature water saturated with around 1,000 lbs of Epsom salt — so dense you cannot sink. In the dark and quiet, with no light, sound, or gravity to react to, your nervous system downshifts. Before you come: don't shave or wax for a day beforehand (salt stings fresh cuts — they'll have barrier ointment if you nick yourself), skip caffeine, eat a light meal an hour or two before, and remove contacts. If you colored your hair recently, wait a few days. In the tank: shower first, put earplugs in before you get wet, and keep a fresh-water spray bottle within reach for salt in the eyes. You can leave the light or music on until you settle, then turn them off from inside. Hold your arms out for the first 20–30 seconds to stop bobbing, then let go. It takes a few tries — the first 20 minutes are usually your mind winding down. Arrive 10–15 minutes early to shower and get oriented.

Floating isn't for everyone: skip it with epilepsy, kidney disease, uncontrolled heart conditions, open wounds, a contagious condition, or in the first trimester of pregnancy without your doctor's OK. If in doubt, ask the center and check with a physician — this is general information, not medical advice.
