The tanks & rooms here

The vessel type is the single biggest thing to get right — especially if enclosed spaces make you uneasy. Here's what Surrender Wellness Spa runs, drawn from their own site and reviews.

🛁Float Rooms

The room itself is the vessel: no hatch, walk straight in. Great for claustrophobia and easier access.

Water & cleaning at Surrender Wellness Spa

Sanitation is the thing seasoned floaters care about most, and most directories never show it. Between every float, the salt water should be pumped through fine filtration and disinfected — salt alone is not enough. From Surrender Wellness Spa's own information: filters the full tank 3× between floats, down to a 10-micron filter, UV sterilization, hydrogen peroxide.

The float-industry standard is turning the entire volume of water over at least three times between sessions through a 1–10 micron filter, paired with UV and/or hydrogen peroxide or ozone. If a center doesn't publish its process, it's fair to ask.

From the reviews

This was an amazing experience. I did the the 60 minute float. It was a total emersion into relaxation. The salt water float allowed for my body to relax more than ever before. The room to float was large and made me so comfortable. It was not one of those tiny enclosed capsules.

Floating is a unique experience. The couple that runs the place were welcoming and walked me through the whole process, explaining anything I had questions about. Now for the float, it's utterly bizarre and an out of body experience in a good way.

Just did my first float. It was an amazing experience. Very relaxing and great for my body and mind. I was helped by Rosie who was super nice, friendly, and helpful. I felt so comfortable not just asking questions though I didn't have many after the introduction, but in being there and truly enjoying my experience.

First time ever floating this evening. What an experience! They were friendly and willing to explain anything I had a question on. The massage was relaxing and the float experience was so Interesting. Floating in shallow water because of the epsom salt was surreal. Instructions were clear and easy to follow.

Your first float at Surrender Wellness Spa

Never floated before? Almost no one has their first time, and a good center expects it. Here's what to know. What it is: you float effortlessly in about ten inches of skin-temperature water saturated with around 1,000 lbs of Epsom salt — so dense you cannot sink. In the dark and quiet, with no light, sound, or gravity to react to, your nervous system downshifts. Before you come: don't shave or wax for a day beforehand (salt stings fresh cuts — they'll have barrier ointment if you nick yourself), skip caffeine, eat a light meal an hour or two before, and remove contacts. If you colored your hair recently, wait a few days. In the tank: shower first, put earplugs in before you get wet, and keep a fresh-water spray bottle within reach for salt in the eyes. You can leave the light or music on until you settle, then turn them off from inside. Hold your arms out for the first 20–30 seconds to stop bobbing, then let go. It takes a few tries — the first 20 minutes are usually your mind winding down. Arrive 10–15 minutes early to shower and get oriented.

Floating isn't for everyone: skip it with epilepsy, kidney disease, uncontrolled heart conditions, open wounds, a contagious condition, or in the first trimester of pregnancy without your doctor's OK. If in doubt, ask the center and check with a physician — this is general information, not medical advice.
