The tanks & rooms here

The vessel type is the single biggest thing to get right — especially if enclosed spaces make you uneasy. Here's what Samana Float Center runs, drawn from their own site and reviews.

🥚Float Pods

The classic enclosed capsule with a hinged lid. Deepest sensory deprivation; you lie down and pull the lid to.

🚪Float Cabins

A walk-in enclosure with full standing height — for taller floaters and anyone who wants privacy without a low lid.

From the reviews

5 Stars I was given this treat as a birthday gift. I had never heard of Floating before. I was a bit hesitant at first. I am typically a high strung, can’t sit still individual. My thought was how the heck am I gonna last an hour and a half floating?

I had my first float experience July 27th and it was phenomenal. The center was lovely, had an amazing energy and the gal who helped me was very knowledgeable and professional.

What an awesome experience!! My first time doing the floatation, at age 79. It was so healing and calming, and my skin has never felt better !! Kieva was so accommodating and kind ( a beautiful soul 💖 ) I totally recommend the Spa for anyone wanting to heal and detox from the pressures and chaos of the world 🌎 ♥️…

Very nice experience with some points to consider: first time there, great welcome and explanations on the process. Place is very clean, comfortable. The floating experience is very nice. You can turn the music and lights on and off, and I was able to stay long enough to appreciate the very relaxing experience.

Your first float at Samana Float Center

Never floated before? Almost no one has their first time, and a good center expects it. Here's what to know. What it is: you float effortlessly in about ten inches of skin-temperature water saturated with around 1,000 lbs of Epsom salt — so dense you cannot sink. In the dark and quiet, with no light, sound, or gravity to react to, your nervous system downshifts. Before you come: don't shave or wax for a day beforehand (salt stings fresh cuts — they'll have barrier ointment if you nick yourself), skip caffeine, eat a light meal an hour or two before, and remove contacts. If you colored your hair recently, wait a few days. In the tank: shower first, put earplugs in before you get wet, and keep a fresh-water spray bottle within reach for salt in the eyes. You can leave the light or music on until you settle, then turn them off from inside. Hold your arms out for the first 20–30 seconds to stop bobbing, then let go. It takes a few tries — the first 20 minutes are usually your mind winding down. Arrive 10–15 minutes early to shower and get oriented.

Floating isn't for everyone: skip it with epilepsy, kidney disease, uncontrolled heart conditions, open wounds, a contagious condition, or in the first trimester of pregnancy without your doctor's OK. If in doubt, ask the center and check with a physician — this is general information, not medical advice.
