The tanks & rooms here

The vessel type is the single biggest thing to get right — especially if enclosed spaces make you uneasy. Here's what Relax Lab runs, drawn from their own site and reviews.

🌊Open float (no lid)

No lid to close over you — the answer for anyone who feels boxed in. Open pools, open rooms, or pods whose door stays open.

🥚Float Pods

The classic enclosed capsule with a hinged lid. Deepest sensory deprivation; you lie down and pull the lid to.

🛁Float Rooms

The room itself is the vessel: no hatch, walk straight in. Great for claustrophobia and easier access.

From the reviews

This was such an amazing experience I had here! All of the staff were knowledgeable and so sweet and accommodating. The float tub took away all the stress feeling in my body that builds up from work and life. I just felt completely at ease! I’ve already book another appointment for next month to try a facial with them.

Relax Lab has been such a God-send for me - mentally and physically. I have tried so many things to deal with this illness, and float tanks are one of the few I have very noticeable immediate and long-term improvement. When I leave, I feel like I’ve had an incredible massage, skin treatment, and meditation.

I had an amazing first experience at Relax Lab. Highly recommended Alex, massage therapist. He did a phenomenal job working out the tension in my upper back and responded to my needs intuitively. Pairing the massage with a float was the cherry on top. Took me to a ten!

Your first float at Relax Lab

Never floated before? Almost no one has their first time, and a good center expects it. Here's what to know. What it is: you float effortlessly in about ten inches of skin-temperature water saturated with around 1,000 lbs of Epsom salt — so dense you cannot sink. In the dark and quiet, with no light, sound, or gravity to react to, your nervous system downshifts. Before you come: don't shave or wax for a day beforehand (salt stings fresh cuts — they'll have barrier ointment if you nick yourself), skip caffeine, eat a light meal an hour or two before, and remove contacts. If you colored your hair recently, wait a few days. In the tank: shower first, put earplugs in before you get wet, and keep a fresh-water spray bottle within reach for salt in the eyes. You can leave the light or music on until you settle, then turn them off from inside. Hold your arms out for the first 20–30 seconds to stop bobbing, then let go. It takes a few tries — the first 20 minutes are usually your mind winding down. Arrive 10–15 minutes early to shower and get oriented.

Floating isn't for everyone: skip it with epilepsy, kidney disease, uncontrolled heart conditions, open wounds, a contagious condition, or in the first trimester of pregnancy without your doctor's OK. If in doubt, ask the center and check with a physician — this is general information, not medical advice.
