The vessel type is the single biggest thing to get right — especially if enclosed spaces make you uneasy. Here's what Pure Vitality runs, drawn from their own site and reviews.

🥚Float Pods

The classic enclosed capsule with a hinged lid. Deepest sensory deprivation; you lie down and pull the lid to.

From the reviews

Best way to spend my birthday was to treat myself to the massage bed for an hour and then followed that up with an hour floating, privately, in an unbelievable saltwater, body-temperature float pod. Total sensory deprivation was what I was searching for and I sure got it!!!!!

Excellent experience in the sauna and float today. Great staff. Clean and well maintained facilities. Highly recommend to anyone looking for more calm and healing in their life. The peanut wrap was great as was the pure protein smoothie.

I recently had the pleasure of visiting a spa that went above and beyond in every aspect of my experience. From the moment I walked in, I was struck by the tranquil atmosphere, enhanced by the careful placement of crystals and stones that radiated positive energy.

Listen here, if this place was here in 2005-09 when I went to school they would have had all my money. I had the Pure Protein smoothie w/ collagen and added cacao nibs 🔥🔥🔥 one of the best smoothies I’ve ever had. I also had the mushroom magic shot 10/10. The service was great. The vibe is soothing and chill.

Your first float at Pure Vitality

Never floated before? Almost no one has their first time, and a good center expects it. Here's what to know. What it is: you float effortlessly in about ten inches of skin-temperature water saturated with around 1,000 lbs of Epsom salt — so dense you cannot sink. In the dark and quiet, with no light, sound, or gravity to react to, your nervous system downshifts. Before you come: don't shave or wax for a day beforehand (salt stings fresh cuts — they'll have barrier ointment if you nick yourself), skip caffeine, eat a light meal an hour or two before, and remove contacts. If you colored your hair recently, wait a few days. In the tank: shower first, put earplugs in before you get wet, and keep a fresh-water spray bottle within reach for salt in the eyes. You can leave the light or music on until you settle, then turn them off from inside. Hold your arms out for the first 20–30 seconds to stop bobbing, then let go. It takes a few tries — the first 20 minutes are usually your mind winding down. Arrive 10–15 minutes early to shower and get oriented.

Floating isn't for everyone: skip it with epilepsy, kidney disease, uncontrolled heart conditions, open wounds, a contagious condition, or in the first trimester of pregnancy without your doctor's OK. If in doubt, ask the center and check with a physician — this is general information, not medical advice.
