The tanks & rooms here

The vessel type is the single biggest thing to get right — especially if enclosed spaces make you uneasy. Here's what Float Light runs, drawn from their own site and reviews.

🥚Float Pods

The classic enclosed capsule with a hinged lid. Deepest sensory deprivation; you lie down and pull the lid to.

From the reviews

Had a very enjoyable experience at Float Light. This was my first float and the ladies were very informative and made sure all questions were answered before I started my relaxation journey. One of the best parts was they provide everything from towels to shampoo, body wash, down to contact case, q-tips and much more!

Had a great first experience for my first float and massage. It definitely lets you let go everything and relax. My massage was AMAZING! We’re focused on my areas that were sensitive and needed some extra loving. Very relaxed and comforting too! All the ladies were so sweet and helpful and treated you like a queen!

My husband and I have done a couple's float twice now and the service has been impeccable both times. He likes the sensory deprivation more than I do, but it still is a cool experience. Today, I came to Float Light without him and decided to get a massage instead.

I really enjoyed a lot of parts of my Float Light experience. Overall, it was very relaxing and calming, but it did take me a little while to fully settle in. At first, my mind still wanted to wander and I had a bit of a hard time just letting go.

Your first float at Float Light

Never floated before? Almost no one has their first time, and a good center expects it. Here's what to know. What it is: you float effortlessly in about ten inches of skin-temperature water saturated with around 1,000 lbs of Epsom salt — so dense you cannot sink. In the dark and quiet, with no light, sound, or gravity to react to, your nervous system downshifts. Before you come: don't shave or wax for a day beforehand (salt stings fresh cuts — they'll have barrier ointment if you nick yourself), skip caffeine, eat a light meal an hour or two before, and remove contacts. If you colored your hair recently, wait a few days. In the tank: shower first, put earplugs in before you get wet, and keep a fresh-water spray bottle within reach for salt in the eyes. You can leave the light or music on until you settle, then turn them off from inside. Hold your arms out for the first 20–30 seconds to stop bobbing, then let go. It takes a few tries — the first 20 minutes are usually your mind winding down. Arrive 10–15 minutes early to shower and get oriented.

Floating isn't for everyone: skip it with epilepsy, kidney disease, uncontrolled heart conditions, open wounds, a contagious condition, or in the first trimester of pregnancy without your doctor's OK. If in doubt, ask the center and check with a physician — this is general information, not medical advice.
