The tanks & rooms here

The vessel type is the single biggest thing to get right — especially if enclosed spaces make you uneasy. Here's what Float Forty One runs, drawn from their own site and reviews.

🛁Float Rooms

The room itself is the vessel: no hatch, walk straight in. Great for claustrophobia and easier access.

From the reviews

I wanted to share an honest review of my experience at Float Forty One in West Hartford, CT. This location was highly recommended to me by someone at work. The way they described it actually convinced me to drive 2.5 hours from NYC instead of booking somewhere local that offered a similar experience.

My wife and spent the afternoon doing a float, which neither of us had ever done, then the fire and ice contrast therapy! Loved it. We did something similar on a cruise last year and had been looking for something similar. Very relaxing float. Contrast therapy was great way to shock the system and reset!

I did the infrared sauna...how amazing! I feel like a new person just after one session. I absolutely recommend Float Forty-One. The facility was clean, relaxing, and quiet. Love the lounge area for after with snacks and tea. Sarah was so helpful, a wealth of knowledge, and very accommodating.

I did not expect float therapy to feel like a luxury spa treatment, but it absolutely did! Everything was 10/10, the entire experience far surpassed my expectations. Squeaky Clean facility, absolutely perfect customer service, and the little amenities were all above and beyond.

Your first float at Float Forty One

Never floated before? Almost no one has their first time, and a good center expects it. Here's what to know. What it is: you float effortlessly in about ten inches of skin-temperature water saturated with around 1,000 lbs of Epsom salt — so dense you cannot sink. In the dark and quiet, with no light, sound, or gravity to react to, your nervous system downshifts. Before you come: don't shave or wax for a day beforehand (salt stings fresh cuts — they'll have barrier ointment if you nick yourself), skip caffeine, eat a light meal an hour or two before, and remove contacts. If you colored your hair recently, wait a few days. In the tank: shower first, put earplugs in before you get wet, and keep a fresh-water spray bottle within reach for salt in the eyes. You can leave the light or music on until you settle, then turn them off from inside. Hold your arms out for the first 20–30 seconds to stop bobbing, then let go. It takes a few tries — the first 20 minutes are usually your mind winding down. Arrive 10–15 minutes early to shower and get oriented.

Floating isn't for everyone: skip it with epilepsy, kidney disease, uncontrolled heart conditions, open wounds, a contagious condition, or in the first trimester of pregnancy without your doctor's OK. If in doubt, ask the center and check with a physician — this is general information, not medical advice.
