The tanks & rooms here

The vessel type is the single biggest thing to get right — especially if enclosed spaces make you uneasy. Here's what Drift Float & Spa runs, drawn from their own site and reviews.

🌊Open float (no lid)

No lid to close over you — the answer for anyone who feels boxed in. Open pools, open rooms, or pods whose door stays open.

Water & cleaning at Drift Float & Spa

Sanitation is the thing seasoned floaters care about most, and most directories never show it. Between every float, the salt water should be pumped through fine filtration and disinfected — salt alone is not enough. From Drift Float & Spa's own information: ozone, hydrogen peroxide.

The float-industry standard is turning the entire volume of water over at least three times between sessions through a 1–10 micron filter, paired with UV and/or hydrogen peroxide or ozone. If a center doesn't publish its process, it's fair to ask.

I’ve heard about the floats @driftgreenville has offered for a while now. Floating in water heated up to your body temperature while suspended weightless in 1000+ pounds of Epsom salt sounded so relaxing.

This was an amazing experience at drift float and spa. The staff was so helpful in scheduling the perfect day. Their list of services can be overwhelming, but the guy who answered the phone help find the best services and package for what my friend and I were looking for... which was pain management and relaxation.

Your first float at Drift Float & Spa

Never floated before? Almost no one has their first time, and a good center expects it. Here's what to know. What it is: you float effortlessly in about ten inches of skin-temperature water saturated with around 1,000 lbs of Epsom salt — so dense you cannot sink. In the dark and quiet, with no light, sound, or gravity to react to, your nervous system downshifts. Before you come: don't shave or wax for a day beforehand (salt stings fresh cuts — they'll have barrier ointment if you nick yourself), skip caffeine, eat a light meal an hour or two before, and remove contacts. If you colored your hair recently, wait a few days. In the tank: shower first, put earplugs in before you get wet, and keep a fresh-water spray bottle within reach for salt in the eyes. You can leave the light or music on until you settle, then turn them off from inside. Hold your arms out for the first 20–30 seconds to stop bobbing, then let go. It takes a few tries — the first 20 minutes are usually your mind winding down. Arrive 10–15 minutes early to shower and get oriented.

Floating isn't for everyone: skip it with epilepsy, kidney disease, uncontrolled heart conditions, open wounds, a contagious condition, or in the first trimester of pregnancy without your doctor's OK. If in doubt, ask the center and check with a physician — this is general information, not medical advice.
