The tanks & rooms here

The vessel type is the single biggest thing to get right — especially if enclosed spaces make you uneasy. Here's what Cryotherapy Indy runs, drawn from their own site and reviews.

🌊Open float (no lid)

No lid to close over you — the answer for anyone who feels boxed in. Open pools, open rooms, or pods whose door stays open.

🥚Float Pods

The classic enclosed capsule with a hinged lid. Deepest sensory deprivation; you lie down and pull the lid to.

Water & cleaning at Cryotherapy Indy

Sanitation is the thing seasoned floaters care about most, and most directories never show it. Between every float, the salt water should be pumped through fine filtration and disinfected — salt alone is not enough. From Cryotherapy Indy's own information: UV sterilization.

The float-industry standard is turning the entire volume of water over at least three times between sessions through a 1–10 micron filter, paired with UV and/or hydrogen peroxide or ozone. If a center doesn't publish its process, it's fair to ask.

Also under this roof

Many floaters stack their session with contrast therapy the same day. Beyond the float tank, Cryotherapy Indy also offers:

From the reviews

I came in for a 4pm sensory deprivation float and Drew was extremely kind and explained everything about the facility. He was passionate about the process and knows how beneficial these services can be. He let me know of the other services offered without pushing anything or even a membership.

This was my first time and everything about the services, and the workers were wonderful! My friend and I had such a great experience. We will be back together, and with our hubbies. We did the infrared sauna, the float therapy and normatec. ALL so relaxing.

★★★★★ — Jina, Mar 2024

The front desk staff was knowledgeable about the services! My fiancé and I enjoyed our detox-time together in the Sauna and then we took our turns with 2 additional services. We each did the Floatation Therapy, I did Cryotherapy and he did the Normatec!

It was an amazing experience. From the booking an appointment online to speaking to someone over the phone, to the arrival, through the float treatment and then checking out. Everyone was amazing, friendly and kind. Clean and Beautiful.

Your first float at Cryotherapy Indy

Never floated before? Almost no one has their first time, and a good center expects it. Here's what to know. What it is: you float effortlessly in about ten inches of skin-temperature water saturated with around 1,000 lbs of Epsom salt — so dense you cannot sink. In the dark and quiet, with no light, sound, or gravity to react to, your nervous system downshifts. Before you come: don't shave or wax for a day beforehand (salt stings fresh cuts — they'll have barrier ointment if you nick yourself), skip caffeine, eat a light meal an hour or two before, and remove contacts. If you colored your hair recently, wait a few days. In the tank: shower first, put earplugs in before you get wet, and keep a fresh-water spray bottle within reach for salt in the eyes. You can leave the light or music on until you settle, then turn them off from inside. Hold your arms out for the first 20–30 seconds to stop bobbing, then let go. It takes a few tries — the first 20 minutes are usually your mind winding down. Arrive 10–15 minutes early to shower and get oriented.

Floating isn't for everyone: skip it with epilepsy, kidney disease, uncontrolled heart conditions, open wounds, a contagious condition, or in the first trimester of pregnancy without your doctor's OK. If in doubt, ask the center and check with a physician — this is general information, not medical advice.
