The tanks & rooms here

The vessel type is the single biggest thing to get right — especially if enclosed spaces make you uneasy. Here's what City Cave Float & Wellness Spa runs, drawn from their own site and reviews.

🌊Open float (no lid)

No lid to close over you — the answer for anyone who feels boxed in. Open pools, open rooms, or pods whose door stays open.

🥚Float Pods

The classic enclosed capsule with a hinged lid. Deepest sensory deprivation; you lie down and pull the lid to.

🛁Float Rooms

The room itself is the vessel: no hatch, walk straight in. Great for claustrophobia and easier access.

💧Open Float Pools

A room-sized open pool of salt water. Zero enclosure, easiest for two, most spacious of all.

From the reviews

I had heard great things about the float experience and benefits of magnesium on the body, so I was excited to try it! The experience did not disappoint. It started with a great introduction by Hayden followed by a thorough explanation of what to expect and ways to get the fullest benefits by Joe, who was very…

I received deep healing during my visit at City Cave Float in Fort Lauderdale and left feeling nourished. The woman at the front desk made it feel like a home and had the perfect amount of attentiveness. I purchased the sauna + float and the intro massage. For the massage I was paired with Frances (female).

I have to say.. this is one of the BEST spa’s I have ever been to. If I could give more stars I would. My boyfriend and I came here for our first “Flauna” (Float + Sauna) and it was an absolutely incredible experience! Aishah went above and BEYOND, with making it as enchanting as possible.

I loooove to sauna but THIS PLACE specifically, does it best. 45 minutes in your own private room with a private shower, towels, robe, not to mention full glasses of cold water which was a great plus for me as I forgot my water bottle at home 🙃 Float and a massage after are to die for!!!

Your first float at City Cave Float & Wellness Spa

Never floated before? Almost no one has their first time, and a good center expects it. Here's what to know. What it is: you float effortlessly in about ten inches of skin-temperature water saturated with around 1,000 lbs of Epsom salt — so dense you cannot sink. In the dark and quiet, with no light, sound, or gravity to react to, your nervous system downshifts. Before you come: don't shave or wax for a day beforehand (salt stings fresh cuts — they'll have barrier ointment if you nick yourself), skip caffeine, eat a light meal an hour or two before, and remove contacts. If you colored your hair recently, wait a few days. In the tank: shower first, put earplugs in before you get wet, and keep a fresh-water spray bottle within reach for salt in the eyes. You can leave the light or music on until you settle, then turn them off from inside. Hold your arms out for the first 20–30 seconds to stop bobbing, then let go. It takes a few tries — the first 20 minutes are usually your mind winding down. Arrive 10–15 minutes early to shower and get oriented.

Floating isn't for everyone: skip it with epilepsy, kidney disease, uncontrolled heart conditions, open wounds, a contagious condition, or in the first trimester of pregnancy without your doctor's OK. If in doubt, ask the center and check with a physician — this is general information, not medical advice.
