The tanks & rooms here

The vessel type is the single biggest thing to get right — especially if enclosed spaces make you uneasy. Here's what Ascend Float Spa runs, drawn from their own site and reviews.

🥚Float Pods

The classic enclosed capsule with a hinged lid. Deepest sensory deprivation; you lie down and pull the lid to.

🚪Float Cabins

A walk-in enclosure with full standing height — for taller floaters and anyone who wants privacy without a low lid.

🛁Float Rooms

The room itself is the vessel: no hatch, walk straight in. Great for claustrophobia and easier access.

From the reviews

I purchased a set of 3 floats during the Christmas in July sale. The price was great so I could not resist! I have gone twice and will be going back for my third float in a couple weeks. My first float was in the pod and my second was in a float room. Overall, the experience was amazing and relaxing.

My husband and I went here this past week for our first time trying float therapy and we are so glad for it! The owner is super super nice and was very helpful in making sure our first experience was a great one! We both used the float rooms, though I think it would be cool to try the pod next time.

My daughter and I did our first float session, It was amazing! We can’t wait to feel the benefits the days after. The environment feels very welcoming and relaxed. The place is super clean. I would recommend bringing a bottle of water for after as we felt very thirsty.

I received a float session as a gift and I had no idea how much I needed it! I’m a Piano Tuner and really can get sore muscles. First, it’s a beautiful place and you feel so pampered by the lovely staff. Second , it feels so good to let your muscles and your mind relax as you float. I hope this feeling lasts ☺️

Your first float at Ascend Float Spa

Never floated before? Almost no one has their first time, and a good center expects it. Here's what to know. What it is: you float effortlessly in about ten inches of skin-temperature water saturated with around 1,000 lbs of Epsom salt — so dense you cannot sink. In the dark and quiet, with no light, sound, or gravity to react to, your nervous system downshifts. Before you come: don't shave or wax for a day beforehand (salt stings fresh cuts — they'll have barrier ointment if you nick yourself), skip caffeine, eat a light meal an hour or two before, and remove contacts. If you colored your hair recently, wait a few days. In the tank: shower first, put earplugs in before you get wet, and keep a fresh-water spray bottle within reach for salt in the eyes. You can leave the light or music on until you settle, then turn them off from inside. Hold your arms out for the first 20–30 seconds to stop bobbing, then let go. It takes a few tries — the first 20 minutes are usually your mind winding down. Arrive 10–15 minutes early to shower and get oriented.

Floating isn't for everyone: skip it with epilepsy, kidney disease, uncontrolled heart conditions, open wounds, a contagious condition, or in the first trimester of pregnancy without your doctor's OK. If in doubt, ask the center and check with a physician — this is general information, not medical advice.
